We’ve talked to a lot of professional translators on the Move the World with Words podcast.
One demographic we haven’t spoken with, at least not yet, is a student.
Someone who is studying to be a professional translator or interpreter. Someone who spends their days not working with clients, but going to class, studying, and practicing the art of translating in hopes of making it their profession.
We sat down with a graduate student from Middlebury Institute of International Studies recently, because we wanted to hear from someone just getting started. We talked all about:
- Making the jump from Civil Engineering to translation
- What her day to day life in school is like
- What surprised her most about her move to the United States (it may not be what you think)
